Hi everyone I am new to this group. I am a resident of NC and I OC here all the time. I do not have a ccw permit as it is not needed in NC to OC. I will be traveling to pigeon forge TN in a week. I will be stopping through the casino in Cherokee NC on my way there. I want to know if anyone knows the laws regarding TN. If I can even OC there or even have my weapon with me. Even if it's just locked up in my car. I'm so used to having my handgun and a knife on me at all times. Makes me feel off when I haven either on me. So if anyone can shine some info on this subject. Thanks.

So my assumptions were correct where I believed I would need to have my chp. Which is weird since in NC you need a a purchase permit. Which means your able to own a handgun and OC . I'm hoping having in my vehicle will be good enough. I really don't wanna play the I'm dumb card and act like I dcan't don't know. Which will still be my fault for not informing myself. Then the lil devil on my shoulder says. What's the worst a cop would do lol

TN requires to carry permit regardless of mode of carry...you will need a NC permit.

https://www.tn.gov/safety/article/hgreciprocity

That is what I remembered, unless they have changed it recently. I believe a VA permit is faster, and cheaper though for those situations. He also could get a Utah permit if they are still doing out of state permits.

From what I hear the CHP in NC is a real PITA, there is usually a waiting period of a couple months before they will even take the application, then five weeks to get the permit.

Scratch the Utah permit, NC has a reciprocity agreement with Utah, and as such they require you have a NC permit to get a Utah. Shame the Utah fee is only $47.

Would not the decision of the Supremes in McDonald v City of Chicago ( 2010).. Protect all law abiding citizens from such BS from the States?..

I would argue yes, however I am to old to be the poster boy thereof..
