After leaving the 2nd Amendment Task Forcedinner tonight, myself and akgunnut, both OC'ingdecided to hit up Law Abiding Citizen at theCentury 16 movie theater. I have OC'd at Century more times than I can count without any incident, it seems all good things come to an end.

After purchasing our tickets, akgunnutand myself were approached by 2 employees saying our guns weren't allowed and we would have to put them in our vehicle. I mentioned I had carried here several times without incident, when did this change? He said there was a sign up front, I asked him if he would please show me the sign as I'm a pretty observant person. We were escorted to the front where the only sign was found to be on the far left ticket lane written at the bottom of a no cellphone during movies sign. Obviously this doesn't even come CLOSE to Alaska's requirement for restrictive signs but I felt it was not the time or place to engage in that conversation. I asked if he would help Jon and myself expedite our refunds to which he did. While waiting for our refunds I asked him if he could provide me with the managers, owners (if franchise), or whoever that I could contact. He explained that him and the person escorting us were the managers, it was a company wide policy and directed me to look them up online for information for the correct person to contact. I thanked him and left.

Now comes the fun part of putting together a well worded letter and sending it to the proper person at corporate.

Wasn't a total loss though, we went to theDimond theater, still OC'ing and ran into a couple other people who had just come from the 2ATFdinner one of which who was OC'ing also.

It means that in Alaska No Firearms signs carry no legal weight which means should you be discovered that you're carrying you cannot be arrested and charged with a crime. However if you refuse to leave an establishment that has a no weapons policy in place you can be charged with trespassing.

Actually they do. I had an aquaintance who was arrested and cited for carrying into the now-defunct nordstroms within the last year.

Arrested for what, specifically?

If it is trespass, it means he chose not to leave after he was asked? There is no state law pertaining to no-firearm signs and there is fullMunicipal Preemption.

McDonalds requires all patrons to wear shirts and shoes but if you walk in without a shirt on, they will ask you to leave. The police are not going to storm in and drag you away unless you refuse to do so.

If Century 16 is a anti-Firearm establishment, then, just boycott them until they change their policies.

Personally, I have no problem taking my business elsewhere if I feel that my first choice is not appreciative of my support.

hrm, I thought the edit had taken... He was charged with failure to disclose to an officer even though he was open carrying... whole mass os issues surrounding that whole incident and it was the start of the slope that led to him not being an aquaintanance of mine anymore.

That's a joke. I'm assuming from your post there were other reasons they tried to charge him with this? If an officer actually tried to charge me with that while I was OCing I'd laugh him all the way to the courthouse.

Yeah, officer didn't know about state preemption for the no firearms signs, and probably just didn't like bail enforcement agents.

Update

I was just at Century 16 tonight. On the far left register they do have a little sign that says:

"Please consume all outside food"
"No cellphones"
"firearms prohibited".

All that in about 16-18pt font on a 8.5X11 piece of paper. Seen nothing on the door when I went in, though I did not look at all of them.
