Which is really scary as these type of knives are available (new) at evey flea market and most "sport shows" I have ever been to...
It's also unfortunate that spring-assisted knives are (apparently) illegal when I would think they could help people far more than they could hurt. If you're in a car accident, your car is on fire, and you're stuck in your seat belt and have a broken arm, you're going to thank the gods if you have a spring-assisted knife. Meanwhile, a bad guy can generally plan ahead an extra few seconds and get his regular knife open in time to do his evil deeds anyway.
Sort of like "high-capacity" magazines. Bad guys who go shooting up a place tend to plan ahead and carry spare mags on them in strategic locations. But the honest citizen hearing a bump in the night and quickly grabbing his gun to protect his family will tend to only have one mag. ...which is one reason why I don't care for something like a single-stack 1911 for the home, but that's a different thread.
Kind of amusing I can possess a powerful gun, and even carry it without a permit or anything because I'm a good, lawful citizen, yet I can't have a spring-assisted knife because someone is scared it opens in one second instead of two.
Anyway, the hypothetical examples of owned knives in this thread was good for learning and discussion.
