Anyone deal with
Valley Firearms in shelton?
Ct tactical in orange?
K5 arms in milford?
I was looking to purchase a Ruger P95 from the Hoffs but since their Facebook stunt I can no longer consider them for my money.

Cabelas is my current choice for when the time comes.

Thanks

facebook stunt?

What did I miss?

Jonathan

how they said they may stop selling to non-citizens, because stolen guns and guns used in crimes usually come from non-citizens. dont you have to be a legal citizen to get a gun permit though? so it kinda doesnt make sense? I think they're more simply aiming at not selling to non-whites

Wow.

I just "liked" them so I can see future updates.

I'm there quite often, and they have PLENTY of minority customers spending money there. I never seen them turn a customer down.

Will be interesting to see how this ends up.

I purchased a S&W sigma from valley firearms. They dont have a very large selection on display but their prices are fair and they were polite and attentive behind the counter.
From what I have seen K5 is overpriced but has a nice selection. I personally go to K5 to look at guns and buy them elsewhere.

Valley firearms is small but will order you anything & be priced fair. You will get friendly service. Rick is a good guy.

CT tactical is the newest & the guy is pretty cool. He of course can't compete with the big guys but will try.

K5 is hit or miss price wise but is the best for selection. Let Mike or Frank know if you found something cheaper elsewhere & they will meet or beat the price. I usually make the trip to hoffmans & even newington gun exchange. NGE is underrated, awesome people & good prices. Small shop coziness, big shop prices.

Also, bethany firearms is a hole in the wall but beats hoffmans prices everytime i deal with him.

^all good to know^ because from all the stores I've been to, Hoffman's seemed to have the best prices by quite a bit actually. But several people I've spoken to in person have suggested I shy away from Hoffman's

Excellent! Thank you.
I wanted to go to Hoffs to get the blackend P95 for $289. The cheapest I found compared to that was Cabelas at $329 with some sort of discount they mentioned. I may actually give bethany a call in the meantime.

Any thoughts on the Ruger p95??

I'd pay an extra fifty bucks to NOT buy a gun at Cabelas.

You think the paperwork is time consuming when you actually have a guys attention at a smaller shop - try Cabelas! INSANITY.

Cabelas isnt that bad to buy from. Ive bought a rifle from them and it was basicly the same amount of crap from anywhere else. Although if they are busy that could change.
I dont remember the name of the place right now but there is a newer gun shop in naugatuck and their prices are very high compared to other local shops.

Ive always been the type of guy who likes to keep my money local and with good smaller companys. They tend to treat you much better and will keep you in mind if your looking for something specific.

Ive gone to hoffmans once and was made to feel like i was wasting their time. Personally i will never step foot in that place again and will urge anyone who listens to do the same.

Stopped by Valley Firearms while in the area once but they were closed.
Never knew about CT Tactical in Orange where are they?
K5 came off with a crummy attitude one time when a few of us stopped in while working in the area. I guess we didn't "look like" we had money to buy when I asked to see a particular 1911 in the case and the response was "you got $10,000.00 dollars?" WHAT? Haven't been back there.
Cabelas has a large inventory but probably not the lowest price. I did buy one gun there. Weekends seem to be their busy time and I don't waste time waiting for a deli meat counter number. Love the store otherwise.
I don't go on face-book so I don't know what the story was about Hoffman's. I bought 3 guns there, one was used and I returned it without any problems. They seem to have prices that are competitive with Internet/ship/FFL which I did twice for guns I could not find locally. Hoffman's does have a lot of inventory.
Ct Sporting Arms in N. Branford is a small shop but their prices seem reasonable, bought one gun there and stop in occasionally.
Silver City Sporting Arms in West Haven is small but the owner is a good guy, had the Internet purchases FFL'ed there, reasonable.
I've been to the other stores mentioned on "road trips" with friends but wasn't looking to buy anything.

FWIW, I haven't been to Hoffman's in years, but I did call them last year to ask if they carried Fiocchi 7,65 Browning ammo. I wanted the European load of .32 ACP since it is supposedly a bit hotter than American .32 ACP loads. With that little caliber, any little extra oomph counts.

Anyway, I spelled it to him F I O C C H I and the guy said "Huh? - I've never heard of Fiocchi" with a bit of an attitude. I thought REALLY!? :banghead: How could he not have heard of the company? Even Cabela's carries that brand...sheesh.

I didn't have much faith in them after that, so I never bothered to even go there. Maybe he just thought I was wasting his time, but I wanted to know if they had it before driving all the way down there.

Valley Firearms in Shelton? Haha. I heard it called valley ripoffs more times than not. Bad attitudes, crap selections, and way overpriced. I bought about 6 guns from them about 8 years ago and haven't bought one there since. Haven't gone there in at least 6 years now because the attitude was still the same. There attitude is the reason the landlord did not renew their lease when they were down the road.

CT Tactical in Orange? In the same plaza as Corner pocket across from IHOP. Just bought a new glock there today. Real cool guys, fair prices, knowledgeable, they came recommended, and I will be going back there again. Not a huge selection but they can order anything.

K5 arms in Milford? I spend at least 5k there years ago and have not gone back since years ago. Overpriced and poor attitudes.

Newington Gun Exchange in Newington? Highly recommended. Great customer service. I have about 7 guns from them and drive people up there to buy guns from them too.

Hoffmans in Newington? Good prices and great huge selection. Unfortunately that has created an arrogance from most of the staff there and extensive wait times.

Bethany Firearms in Bethany? Small quite shop that you'll drive right by without a GPS. Very nice personalities and helpful. Not much of a selection though. I'd expect more after going there over 15 years.

X-tactical in Naugatuck? Over priced, rude staff, no product knowledge, and crap selection.

Mitz Northeast in Seymour? Small and quiet place that I drove by for years without knowing it was there. Ok selection, by all means not big though, higher end prices, the place to go for antique guns, nice staff, but not very knowledgeable. They will however get the answer for you.

Cabelas in East Hartford? I bought one gun from there and I will NEVER go back. They took forever, made you wait to buy, are over priced on almost everything, and they guys have suck ass attitudes.

That's just it, they do get busy.

Then, they have that goofy "escorting" you out of the store bit with your firearm. WTFs up with that???

Their gun counter/ticket system leaves a bit to be desired. Often you can be ready with cash in hand, but you need to wait for the person asking ten thousand questions for the pistol that they won't get until they get their permit.

NGX, I like. I have a few from there.

I had heard and believed it base on a few phone conversations.

This is great news since they are nicely tucked away for privacy.

Never had any plans to use them like they used me on the class. Just reading this forum I have more knowledge than their class/Instructor.

Going to be checking them out as well.

No further comment.

Was in the area yesterday.

Strike out!

Pass for no real reason.

Thanks to everyone who has taken their time to help me out. I choose cabelas as choice because they're like a walmart. I expect to be treated like a customer not a strike in sale count book. I will be stopping in to CT tactical tomorrow.

They answered the phone? wow! I always got the machine. I thought it was smart to call first to see if they had what was looking for before taking the ride. Costs a box of ammo in gas to make that trip!

You were right about this place. I showed up there at about 940am(opens at 10am) and the store was closed, that is until Daren showed up right behind me and said come on in. From that moment on he had a new customer. He showed me a few different pieces and I decided on getting the SR9 from Ruger. It felt so right in my hand I wanted to take it home.(no permit) When I asked him about price he was open to "I'll see what I can do" which is good enough for me.

All,thanks again for your feed back.:D:D
