Cool. I'm supposed to be doing the 6 month tour thing shortly after the new year, but I have no clue yet since I haven't checked in.

I'd be looking forward to a get together with other like minded individuals and do an OC event.

Yeserday I went to Payless food in Freeland to get some stuff to make Spaghetti. Told this Old guy I liked his jacket. He told me what the insignia meant and said when I get out of the Navy, I should look them up to see if I can get a job with them. He gave me some phone numbers of people to talk to. He then asked me about Wa being an OC state. I told him it was. He said good it keeps people honest. I said yes it does. After he left I flirted with the cashier a liitle. As I was leaving I heard someone say " Hey look it's the Wild West up in here hahaha" I was tempted to turn around and say something, but decided that he wasn't worth my time. That was my OC day. The Spaghetti turned out great. I tried things a little differently than normal. :)

Figured this thread could use a bump :)

Picked up a new 10/22 at the Ace hardware in Oak Harbor yesterday. Great little hole in the wall, not where you'd expect to find guns n ammo but they had plenty of both, feller said every single box had gone up in price $2 overnight. My OC was pointed out by the counter guy to an older feller buying his fist pistol, xd 9 looked like. Said it was totally legal, no permit required, just not common. Guy buying the gun said I was actually the second person he'd seen oc. Crazy busy even in a little spot like that.

Then went all the way down to the little pet shop in Clinton to get my wife a hamster. Was in there a good half hour or so with no comments, although the older hippie looking lady buying some overpriced organic dog food didn't look to amused.

The first OC that guy saw was most likely me. I have been to ACE alot lately. Had to get stuff for fencing for my dog. I didn't notice they sold guns at ACE. I knew about ammo and targets. Just didn't pay enough attention about the guns.

So when are we going to meet up? We could do something at Freeland Cafe or Clover Patch. Let me know.

OC Report for Sunday 6th of January, 2013:

Firearm, Handgun, Kimber Custom II 1911, Caliber .45 ACP.

Spent a small chunk of the day visiting SigGuy23 and his Dad over on Whidbey Island. I took my Dad along as well. After getting lunch at Clover Patch in Bayview (and watching the Seahawks beat the Redskins, WHOO HOO! GO SEAHAWKS!), we went back to the house and played some Wii Golf (I won too!) Then my Dad got restless and wanted to go, so I drove his fat butt up the rest of the Island.

After putting 12 gallons on board in Oak Harbor, we went into Mount Vernon and stopped at the big Walmart they got up there. I picked up 2 boxes of .22 Magnum for my little Marlin Model 57M, and then we headed to Mcdonalds, and went home and ate that.

FRI 12APR - Went to payless food to get some groceries and return some dvd rentals. As I was walking out the door, a lady behind the costumer service desk called me over. Me "yes?" Her "do you have a ccw liscense?" Me "Yes, but it doesn't matter." Her "Ok I was just making sure." I would have talked to her about it more, but she was on the phone so I just rolled my eyes and left. I shop here all the time. All the cashiers know me by name and love seeing me everytime I come in. Not sure what that ladys problem was.

SUN 14APR - Went across the ferry to FMJ 911's house. We stopped by Cabelas on our way to go shooting. I had 3 different people with in about 10 minutes come up to me and ask me what kind of gun I was carrying and where I got my holster. I told them a few places online to look and also they could bring their gun empty into Cabelas to try out holsters. Just make sure to check it with the staff. They all thanked me and went on their way. After Cablelas we went to 5 guys on 172nd. No one said anything, but the staff members asked me multiple times if I was ok and needed anything. I told them I was fine. After 5 Guys, we headed up to mount vernon Walmart to meet my buddy Nic who was going shooting with us. Got a couple camping chairs and a tarp from walmart. No comments or looks. Went shooting at the pits north of Sedro Woolley. Had a blast. Then went back to Nic's house for some drinks and food. Went back to FMJ 911's house and watched a movie. Over all it was a great OC, shooting, and Birthday.

MON 15APR - Went to Ace hardware to get some ammo to replace what I shot the day before. As I walked in, a older male employee greeted me.
Him "I see you're a man on a mission going straight for what you need. You going gishing"
Me "No sir I'm just looking at the ammo to see what you have"
Him "Oh yeah I see you got a gun there"
Me "Yes I do"
Him "We are out of 9mm. Is that a 9mm?"
Me "No sir it's a .45 1911." "Can I get some of the .45 FMJ's you have in the case please?"
Him "Sure hold on"(as he's stuttering and hobbles off)
I waited for about 5 minutes when a female employee walks into the Isle.
Her "Ummm Heello"
Me "Hi"
Her "I'm going to help you. That guy was to scared to help you because you have a gun. What is it that you need?"
Me "I just need a box of the .45 FMJ's please"
Her "ok(Takes like 5 minutes just to open the cabinet.) Go ahead and grab what you need. Do you mind if I escort you to the register?"
ME "Whatever"
Finally after about 15 minutes I left with one box of overpriced of .45. It was like pulling teeth. I've been in that store plenty of times and never had an issue. But for some reason everyone was nervous and scared to deal with me. It is what it is.

It's wierd, I can go months without anyone saying a thing or starring and then a weeik straight of people saying something everywhere I go.

Hmm, that's odd, never had the slightest issue issue at Payless and actually had a fairly positive talk with the manager at Ace, who was just curious, gave him the rundown on the laws, etc. maybe the 1911 just sticks out more or something. Must've just missed you Monday, we were everywhere EXCEPT Ace  Have you been to the new gun shop down by the red apple yet?

Wonder if the troubles in Boston had something to do with it. Yes new gun shop in the little "mall" there next to the pharmacy. Bit of a flap I guess when the local paper picked up the story, the resident hippielibtards are not happy of course but their protests never materialized either. Stopped there yesterday but they're closed sun & mon. Whidbeyarms.com

Had nice talk with a open carry guy at a park in Oak Harbor. He was from Ca. So he was like a kid in a candy store around here with all the freedom and all. lol

Sig Guy - I was stationed here from 2005-2009 and got put back here in 2012. Been on a quick turn around with deployments and all but I'm up in OH. Shoot me a PM if you want to get together sometime for some coffee at StarSchmucks.

I do not live on the Island anymore. :( I now live in Port Orchard and am stationed in Bremerton on the Stennis. I would still like to meet up if I had more time. I am getting underway soon though. Maybe in may some time we can meet up?
