GRNC Alert 03-29-07:

Pro-Gun Bills Go To House Judiciary I Committee

Two pro-gun bills have found their way to the House Judiciary I
Committee. HB 830, "Concealed Handgun Permit Valid in Parks," is
designed to finally allow you the right to self-protection within
parks. It would amend existing law by striking public parks as an
area that may be posted against legally permitted concealed carry.

HB 831, "Personal Protection in Restaurants," would allow personal
protection with a concealed handgun provided that the person has a
valid concealed handgun permit. Both of these measures are sorely
needed to close "anti-protection loopholes" inserted in the current
statutes by the anti-self-defense lobby when they were originally
passed.

Castle Doctrine Introduced in NC Senate

Another piece of much needed personal safety legislation has been
introduced in the NC Senate by Senator Andrew Brock (R-GRNC ****). SB
1251 once again attempts to bring about the "Castle Doctrine" here in
North Carolina. This eagerly anticipated concept is already
protecting law abiding citizens in several states including Florida
from frivolous prosecution and civil liability from the act of
defending one's life and home.

Immediate Action Required:

* Contact members of the House Judiciary I Committee (contact info
follows). Give them this message.

Dear Representative:

HB 830 & HB 831 will protect the law-abiding voters of North Carolina
by allowing them the ability to protect themselves in restaurants and
public parks. It is vitally important that these anti-protection
loopholes be closed.

I strongly urge you to throw all of your support behind these two
bills. They should receive the full confidence of your committee and
be sent to the floor for passage into law. I will be monitoring their
progress through Grass Roots North Carolina.

Sincerely,

A concerned North Carolina voter.
