If this amendment passes, I plan to stand in line for one. Might be worth contacting your parasites, er, Congressional delegation in DC to express your support.

FUQ from http://www.guns.com/2015/05/08/house-advances-amendment-to-sell-milsurp-1911s-through-cmp/ : "An add-on to the upcoming National Defense Authorization Act that passed committee includes a plan to transfer the U.S. Army’s remaining stock of .45 ACP 1911A1 pistols to the Civilian Marksmanship Program...An influx of 100,000 highly-collectable handguns, largely all made before 1945, would likely revitalize the organization, and ensure its work for years to come."

I hope they go back to their strict limit of one per person, and keep the price down to intrinsic value. These deserve to be spread out across the spectrum of us, not just for the rich collectors.

Personally if I were buying a 1911 I would want to buy a modern new one with better steel, better fed ramps most likely a better side to frame fit and not all beat to heck.

There are most likely some real gems among them but most well have most of there life shot out of them and well need work.

Th.at said I hope they become available.
