Hello, my name is Shaun and I recently moved to Kansas from Michigan. I am currently just outside of Ottawa and I was wondering what stipulations there are in transporting my handgun in my vehicle.

In Michigan you just have to separate the magazine from the firearm and they have to be in separate parts of the vehicle. How does this work in KS. I read that is becoming standardized in KS which would make things easier to my confused mind haha.

I forgot to mention I do not have a concealed carry permit.

Welcome to Kansas. You'll find we have some of the best firearm laws in the country. IMHO.

http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/kansas.pdf

After July 1st the new firearm law goes into effect which will do away with all the current Open Carry restrictions and allow for open carry basically anywhere in Kansas, save for the usual Federal properties, etc.

BTW, We are in the same neighborhood...kinda...I'm in Beloit.
