I have a friend headed up that way for camping/hiking, is there anything he should know about the laws carrying there? (open/concealed)

He has his Ohio CHL and his NH non-resident license also.

Thanks.

National Forests, as part of the Department of Agriculture, always assimilate the laws of the state they're in.

Gun laws in White Mountain National Forest are exactly the same as they are in the rest of the state. Possible exception: in Arkansas, I've seen USFS campground rules state that loaded firearms aren't allowed in the campground. This is more about careless hunters than handgun carriers. Open carry within a campground might draw the ranger's attention if they have such a local rule.

National Parks and National Monuments are Department of the Interior, and have different rules. Wildlife preserves and refuges are U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and they also have their own rules.
