See, this here is bad journalism. The story leaves out important facts that make it sound like carrying on campus is illegal. Was the arrested person open or conceal carrying? If they were conceal carrying, did they have a valid license? If not, then they were arrested for the misdemeanor of conceal carry without a license, not for doing so at UK. Was the person charged with trespassing because they were asked to leave and didnt, or were told beforehand they were not welcome on campus? Because if the person was legally carrying a firearm onto campus, he should not be arrested just for that, per KY statute.

snipp..

poet, i find it more interesting the major thrust for motive centers around the story line of “an unnamed student” went to campus LE to complain about inappropriate social media posts from an apparent non-attending university individual who appears to not even reside in KY, and yet campus LE ‘located’ said individual and has also been keeping their eye on said lonestar social media scofflaw since March!

as Marcellus stated oh those many years ago, there is something rotten on Louisville’s infamous University!

Wouldn't you find guns in a armory?

originally an armory during the turn of the 20th century...

the social media incident the campus LE got involved with began in Oct 16...

now forgive me for thinking out loud for a moment but, does anyone else think the campus LE have way too much free time where they can expend a year’s worth of man-hours “monitoring” a social media account?

as well as, is the expenditure of such man-hours within the campus LE’s charter to provide such intrusive oversight towards non-affiliated citizens?

I now know where to go to get personal protection and constant monitoring of those evil individuals attempting to harm me.

The University of Kentucky is at Lexington, not Louisville.

Carry is not illegal, just policy...is a slippery thing.

In some states it matters if the person is a student or an employee.

In some states it means that if caught you can be asked to leave, and then if you don't trespassed, and you may end up barred from campus.

In some states 'campus carry' means on campus (outside) and not in buildings, dorms or offices.

Why they 'tracked' this person is not clear. If campus cops don't then who will? If it's credible then maybe they should because, what else do CC do besides issue parking tickets and arrest voyeurs?

hummm, per poet's leading cite: http://www.wdrb.com/story/36934784/...arrying-gun-into-building-on-uk-campus]Campus

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was arrested Monday after he was seen carrying a gun Monday on the University of Kentucky campus.

thanks for the clarification tho...i'll immediately send an email to WDRB so they might put the right by line in their next article on the subject.

WDRB is a Louisville TV station. They were reporting, from Louisville, on an event that occurred in Lexington. This is the standard procedure followed in every news report, no matter if it is print or TV. The "dateline" is the location of the report. Had the reporter made a remote report from Lexington that would have been reflected in the "dateline". Would it not be unusual for both the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky, the two largest post secondary education facilities in Ky., to be located in the same city?
