Forgive me, but after searching NV's past OCDO & NV Shooter's past forum threads, I am unable to find anybody, whomever, who has recently or in previous years inquired regarding the carry of a handgun at this prestigious industry show and tell.
(yes in '11 & '14 Dave Workman posted weather forecasts as well as in '14 an invitation to visit the 2nd amendment booth - doesn't count!)

anyway, to be held in sands expo center so curious if any locals know anything about CC/OC in the expo center as well as in the immediate area.

email is outbound to sponsors regarding the subject.

thanks

thanks grape, ya know i searched hi & lo for the cite you found so quickly...you responded faster than the sponsors of the event...KUDOs...

NOW...do not eat too much this holiday, which i am sure you are sharing w/family and friends.

poking more at the cite you provided, seems the sponsors are laying the ban on the venue for the policy...

Personal Firearms Carry Policy
Per Sands Expo Convention Center (SECC) policy, personal firearms or ammunition are not allowed. Only firearms on display by exhibitors whose firing pins have been removed (and have been inspected by SHOT Show® Safety Advisors (sic)) will be permitted on the show floor. http://shotshow.org/policies/

That was the same policy in other cities where I attended the SHOT Show, in not-so-recent years past. I wouldn't want to speculate how much physical inspection and/or electronic scanning is done nowadays. But back 14-20 some years ago, when I attended a few times, no one was searching or wanding.

The ones I have went to including last year no searching, wanding or other checking was done.

Now that the NRA as gone to allowing firearms I think the SHOT might follow their lead.

Last time I was there, the Sands Expo Convention Center was posted so it would seem to be their policy rather than Shot Show's in this case.

thanks to the 'out of staters' who provided the information i believe satisfactorily answered my query.

however, to those in the NV, Vegas community especially, you should be truly ashamed of your behaviour exhibited where you fail to respond to an apparently very simple inquiry regarding a local casino policy which those in your community should be quite familiar with.

truly, truly, i find it unbelievable as it now lends credence to me as to this membership, where you have whined about outsiders responding to newbie's query(ies), but it seems if the outsiders didn't provide their input there would be quite a few unanswered queries.

LOL. The troll messenger, shot ignored, complains.

you know nightmare, one would presume an individual of your self professed knowledge base, stature, coupled with your worldly life experiences as well as the hobnobbing with famous individuals like you attest you have done, you would have learned that when you engage in idiotic playground taunts, all that credibility you have worked a life time to acquire is instantly wiped off the slate!

tis truly a shame...

OBVIOUSLY trolling for a reaction. So, here.

First off.....I really didn't care. The show is not open to the general public and I don't plan to attend.
Secondly...The Expo Center isn't a casino so not sure if casino rules apply to a specialty show. Could a simple phone call have answered your own question?
Lastly....the out of staters seem to do just fine without any local help. So why waste my time, like now.

Bye now...

We don't respond because we DO NOT CARE. It is an industry show only and most of us won't be there.

And, of course we don't care what the "casino policy" is (they are all opposed to allowing patrons to carry firearms) because it does not matter to us at all. We do as we please.

Signs on private property that is open to the public do not have the force of law in Nevada.

now how hard was that and lookie i learned more than a couple of things the 'out of staters' didn't provide

as for your commentary about trolling for a reaction...nawll, OBVIOUSLY that behaviour is totally out of character for me...truly!

and if you ping the sands website, https://www.venetian.com/meetings/ , it doesn't say darn thing about attendee's policies! as for calling i liken that to asking the police if they allow open carry or the signage has the weight of law...

again thanks...

See. You're correct. It wasn't hard. Seems like you should have been able to accomplish this task yourself.

You asked a question and no one gave you an answer. Maybe because in NV we are more self reliant and don't rely on others to do our work.
How did it become OUR problem for not answering YOUR question?

Demeaning locals for not answering your query makes you sound like a whiner.

You CAN carry in a casino. They will ask you to disarm or leave. The only thing they can do is trespass you and make you leave.
A 5 second google search - casino open carry Las Vegas - https://www.nevadacarry.org/open-carry.html

If you do travel to Las Vegas. Enjoy your stay.......

dear runn’, et al., please accept my sincere invitations to join me for the upcoming holidays, driving the southern route of course to avoid the weather and dreaded IL, (i am sure you know those protocols by heart already) and spend some time in the TarHeel state and we will have an oc get together w/ appropriate food and drink to tell war stories over!

but, please please do your homework so you are familiar with the southern and eastern states local firearm nuances & quirky local practices so you can assure yourselves you won’t run afoul of our nice LEs who are well practiced in assuring out of state folk are contributing to the local community profitcenter.

btw, studying the statutory legalese won’t inform you, for example that signage doesn’t mean anything, oh sorry thats just in NC, SC ya the signage counts but it doesn’t matter there cuz you can’t OC in the state.

OR

NC’s accepted protocols of citizen’s behaviour expected by those nice LEs i mentioned who are stopping you and you are packing heat. quite fascinating actually watching visitors out of their vehicles with a display of armaments on the hood of their vehicle.

you are of course right, i could go check the myriad of info sites to be given a synopsis of the ‘gun’ statutes, but then this gentleman visitor traveling 2.7k miles east of your mecca would have not seen a word about signage nor seen where the expo center, using the renowned ‘sands’ name doesn’t have a casino attached to it, huh!

oh, regarding the invitation, its an honest one, and has lodging thown in for one individual/couple who wishes to accept, otherwise cheep lodging is available near by in our little burg in rual, religious eastern NC!

Thank you for the invitation but I will respectfully decline. Others may decide differently.

IF I did head east I wouldn't waste my time driving through all those states. I-40 is quite boring through the southwest/mid-west states. I'd just fly in.
I presume finding out local laws/statutes to the town/city I would be in wouldn't be too difficult. Of course, I wouldn't expect someone to do the work for me.

Nice try. Trying to spin this thread into traveling to NC. Nope. Not going to happen.

THIS thread was about carrying at the SHOT show. You got an answer from an "out of stater"
The answer from locals was "WE DON'T CARE" about the SHOT show. Hence, the reason for not responding to which you admonished us for.

Happy Thanksgiving............
