West Columbus Police Sgt. Dave Sicilian confirmed to the news station that the “homeowner was awakened and defended herself.”

However, he also reportedly added, “We need to determine if she needed to defend herself and if she took the proper action.”

Wasnt sure about that last line. if someone broke into your house, i would say you unequivocally need to defend yourself. It's not like they want a cup of tea.

Ohio has a C. Doct.

Ohio Revised Code reads: 2901.09 No Duty to retreat in residence or vehicle.

(A) As used in this section, “residence” and “vehicle” have the same meanings as in section 2901.05 of the Revised Code.
(B) For purposes of any section of the Revised Code that sets forth a criminal offense, a person who lawfully is in that person’s residence has no duty to retreat before using force in self-defense, defense of another, or defense of that person’s residence, and a person who lawfully is an occupant of that person’s vehicle or who lawfully is an occupant in a vehicle owned by an immediate family member of the person has no duty to retreat before using force in self-defense or defense of another.

Leave it to the Sgt not to know this.

"Please stay in your home and remain a victim until we arrive, you may be dead by then, but that is the price you will pay for community peace and safety"

and tell me please, what part of that statement makes sense? as this seems to be the typical LEO's train of thought along with the left's.

Old thread I know but as an ohio resident I wanted to chime in..ohio castle doctrine is not true castle doctrine such as florida has. You still have to articulate fear of grievous bodily harm or death

Please enlighten us as to nature of Florida's castle doctrine vs Ohio's, the similarities and differences thereof, within one's home.

Impossible, she only had the gun a week, and probably lacked training. We all have been told that without training a gun is useless for self defense.

Wonder how many rounds she fired, and how many hit the perp. Betting it is the same.

Studies done by many, many professional have shown that it is really, really unlikely for anyone to use a gun effectively in self defense, especially in cases of sexual assault.

Really? Name one, you overpaid socialist mouthpiece. You can't. But I sure as hell can prove you wrong. It's so easy that kids can do it.

And thats just two.

Franks argued that guns are “highly effective” when they are being used for crimes, “but are rarely effective in preventing them."

See my links above. VERY effective in my opinion.

No personal offense was taken. He was reacting to the poor analysis in the article I'm sure.

Well, considering your average houseplant is smarter than any liberal, brainwashing socialist, I fully confident that Grape knows better.

And actually, Grape, I was reacting to the complete and total fabrication of a seriously large pile of male bovine fecal matter. That wasn't poor analysis. It was an utter lack of it, cementing in my mind the fact that this woman lives and works in some fantasy world.
