I've been trying to find out Steve Beshear's true stances on guns and was alarmed to read on a couple of websites that he supports the repeal of Kentucky's CCW law and the weakening or elimination of the Castle Doctrine. Is this true or is it some kind of propaganda BS?

All that I can say is that Beshear did the obligatory cammo clad bird hunter TV ad during his pre-election campaign, and we were told that he is a staunch 2nd A man.

However, he is a POLITICIAN, so, although I have not SEEN any thing to his detriment myself as far as the 2nd A goes, always good to keep an eye open. One LIKES to think that a KY Governor would realise that he will do himself no favours by messing around with the KY gun laws, but, one never knows!

Thanks for the heads up, I will check this out!

Best wishes, mate,

TrueBrit.

Sure thing. Seems that when he was KYAG back in the 80s,he felt that Louisville and Lexington, hotbeds of liberalism, should be able to pass their own restrictive gun laws. He was soundly rebuked, and I think that this was what really caused the State pre-emption thing to be tightened up GOOD AND HARD!He has left well alone since, I believe!

I think that he will be too busy getting slot machines, legalised off track gambling etc passed in KY, to mess around with the gun laws here! Hopefully, he has had time to realise that such crap is unlikely to do him any favours! My main problems with himare his socialised medicine, welfare proposals, which sound good, but have a habit of causing too much governmental interference in areas that should not concern them, and discourage self-help. Just my opinion, nothing more.

No worries, mate, Merry Christmas, and a prosperous New Year to you,

TrueBrit.

It's a month later and now you are gone, Truebrit. I thank you for all the courtesy you have extended to me and every member of this forum. May God bless you, brother. You are greatly missed.
