Taylor thought he recognized the car, wonderful excuse to brandish a weapon at this time when more people are armed, sense of humor has been replaced by fear and spree shooters can show up anywhere. The kid better hope that a fine and jail sentence is all he gets, somebody should knock him up alongside his empty head and knock some sense into it.

Shane R. Taylor was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines.



I thought they would have gotten him on some terrorist charge ...

I thought that toy guns has a red end cap on the barrel to distinguish them from a real gun. Now I played cops and robbers way back in the distant past, but that was a different era and we knew each other. We had decided to play cops and robbers. Do kids in the US still play cops and robbers?? But in this case total strangers pointed a gun at this person. The victim didn't know it was a toy gun. The culprit needs to be punished. This prank is not funny. As old grump has said we live in a highly charged atmosphere today in the US. no one should be pointing guns, toy or otherwise at anybody Period! Unless otherwise.
Can anyone explain to me why are these type of incidents are taking place today? Were they taking place back in time but people just brushed them off bec times were more peaceful?

I think this is a completely proper application of the DC charge.
Between the other driver (probably) providing a visual ID of the 18yo, and the other people who were working on the car saying that the moron had the toy along for the ride, I don't think this will be hard to convict.

But this is completely improbable:

saw a man stand up through the sunroof and point a shotgun at him. The man saw the car do a U-turn ... then come up again on him at a high rate of speed, then saw the same man stand out of the sunroof and point the gun at him again...

said he and his brother ... were testing out the car and Taylor brought the gun with him on the ride, but he said he didn’t notice what Taylor was doing.

How do you not notice when someone in a car, a regular passenger car, stands up out of the sunroof?

And from the description of the driving, it sounds like maybe the driver was cooperating with the... "prank".

I handed one of these calls decades ago. I van with 3 teens pointed what the other driver thought was a real pistol out the window at him.

I found the van preformed a high risk stop on the vehicle after I determined that it wasn't a real gun. I was in the process of explaining the errors of there ways to them.

When I recived a call of a tripple fatailty crash. At time I was the only LEO on duty in the whole county the crash was some 20 miles away.

I quickly told the teens they what they did was a good way to get shot and don't be stuiped again. Being spread eagled along the highway at gun point ,help stressed the point at what they did was really stuiped.

That they were lucky that I had more important things to attend to and off I went to the crash.

To address Law Abider's question, airsoft guns have to have the end of their muzzles colored red or blaze orange only at the time of sale. Once you own the weapon, you can remove the color on the end of the muzzle. As far as I know, only airsoft guns have this requirement. BB guns, paintball guns, nerf guns, etc. do not need it. I have had multiple LEO's tell that in the past, bad guys have painted the end of a real gun to make others think it is not a real firearm. Thus, the LEO's are going to treat anything that looks like a gun as a real gun until they can get their hands on it to confirm what it is.

The solution is simple do not do stuip things with things that look like guns.

But that could inclued other things also making threats, telling people your going to shoot them, telling people to shoot you and many other stuip things people say.

I have always said you point something that looks like a gun at someone who is armed and say some thing stuip to go along with that act. You could very well get shot.

And while I generally loathe pink, I would actually carry a Hello Kitty Glock.
