I've never though of the word sheeple as an insult, it's merely a classification. Sheeple are people that act like sheep, i.e. they stick with the crowd and try not to stick there heads up. I am frequently a sheep-person depending on the situation.

I usually try to blend in with the other cars on the freeway, not going a lot faster or slower, just moving with the herd.
Perhaps it's not an insult but it is certainly is full of negative connotations as defined by this group. Sheep are not aware of their surroundings, baaaa a lot and do nothing to defend themselves or loved ones.

I feel sure that you would so defend loved ones because of your reference to having teeth. So perhaps you are a sheepdog afterall just not an alpha sheepdog; nevertheless, a working member of a higher social group.

I calls 'em like I sees 'em.

I think perhaps the term is thrown about all too often by most every rights group I can think of.
