So I was reading up on the P239 and it seems like it would be a nice choice for a first but I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on any other firearms ..
SIGs are known for being mechanically sound and reliable firearms. Your best bet would be to test fire one if possible or at least try to handle one and see how it fits your hand.
Well my husband has a 229 .40cal and I've fired that at the NRA range and up in the mountains. So I know it fits nicely in my hand and what not. Only problem when firing is that I anticipate the recoil and tend to shoot to the right  I know I'd prefer a Sig, seeing as I've already handled one and like it. I just don't want the same one as my husband, but also I'd prefer something with a little less of a recoil.
Maybe a smaller caliber? Is a 9mm still a good defense round?
