"Approximately 70 people, many of them visibly carrying a firearm holstered to their waist, walked through Mountain Home on Saturday, along a U.S. Highway 62 Business route from Wallace Knob to the downtown courthouse square.
Organized by Arkansas Carry, the unprecedented event for the Twin Lakes Area celebrated what the pro-gun group calls the right of state residents to openly carry a firearm, an interpretation it believes is lawful through Act 746 legislation passed last April by Arkansas lawmakers.
“Well, at some point you’ve got to take a stand for something or our rights will go away real quick if you don’t,” said Tim Phelps, a gun-rights advocate from Mountain Home. “So, just out here trying to do something. We’re trying to make people aware that their rights can be taken away if you don’t do something".."
