As I'm sure many people have recently done, I decided to join this site due to all the (mostly negative) press attention it's been getting lately. I've lived in NH all my life and I love my home state dearly. I'm particularly glad the Shaheen magazine restriction period ended and was not renewed a few years back. That was before I could carry, though. I also love that NH is one of very few states (3, I believe) that issues a CCP at the age of 18. I used to live in "Trashua" so this was a big relief to me. Most people in that city say they avoid the bad areas and that's why they don't need a gun. I, on the other hand, say I go wherever the hell I want without fear BECAUSE I have a gun. One of these friends was mugged shortly after I moved to the Lakes Region, and he was in a supposedly "safe" part of town.
Anyway, to cut to the chase, I've signed up to do what I can to make myself a better shooter, carrier (open and concealed) and also do what I can to support and promote pro-gun mentality in this great state. I carry concealed virtually everywhere I go except school (Tragically, illegal to do so. I've thought about trying to start a Students for Concealed Carry on Campus chapter there, but I doubt I'd get support and I also doubt it would work as it is a state-run campus) and work (my boss disapproves of guns, though no company policy prohibits carrying them.)
In light of my boss recently being robbed at gunpoint (along with another co-worker) after hours in the parking lot, and a story I heard of an armed robbery taking place inside before I worked there, I am currently in the market for a tuckable IWB holster for my P6. My current CC holster would probably show enough for someone to notice. What the boss doesn't know can't hurt him, and if he does find out, it won't matter either because company policy does not prohibit it. In fact, I know employees at other locations of the same business who carry every day.
I'd also like to take some courses in basic pistol and self defense shooting. I never learned in a formal way, just what I learned as a kid from my dad and what I've read while surfing various gun sites. If my fellow New Hampshire-ites could point me in a direction of an affordable, competent instructor in central NH I would be most appreciative.
Lastly, I want to participate in any pro-gun or pro-open carry demonstrations like the one I read about in the Union Leader (the only remotely conservative newspaper we have) where people picked up trash on the side of busy Concord streets. I think I read that last summer.
Anyway, forgive the rambling. Let the comments (both negative and positive, I'm a big boy) commence!
