This story aired on TV years ago as a documentary. What sparked our interest is we used to go to Long Beach New Pike a couple times each summer in the late '60s & early '70s. The haunted house was always on our list to visit.
They were using a real skeleton for a prop just inside the door or the park ride.
My recollection from the TV aired documentary he was shot while lying down and the bullet entered his upper shoulder and traveled down to his pelvis. Little different than what I read in the article.
It was very interesting when they superimposed a semi-transparent image of McCurdy over a more recent image - it was a perfect match.
