TACOMA, Wash. -- Police in Tacoma are warning residents in the Browns Point area to stay inside after receiving reports of an armed man walking through the neighborhood and indiscriminately firing at homes.
The Pierce County sheriff's department put out a warning about the man at 4 p.m. after receiving 911 calls about an armed man in the 5800 block of 13th Street Ct. NE.
Callers claimed he was shooting at homes.
"The gunman is not in custody and is moving through the neighborhood. This is a very dangerous situation for your staff, citizens in the area, and first responders," the alert read.
Deputies have not releases a description of the gunman.

BROWNS POINT, Wash. — The Pierce County Sheriff's Department responded the 5800 block of 13th St. Ct. NE in the Browns Point area on Tuesday afternoon after residents reported that a man was walking through the neighborhood firing shots at residences.
The gunman was not in custody shortly after 4 p.m. Police said he was moving through the neighborhood.
"This is a very dangerous situation for citizens in the area and first responders," said Detective Ed Troyer of the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
