The armed individuals peacefully complied. Several with the antifa groups said the action violated their rights under state law allowing them to openly carry weapons. They said they planned to fight the order but decided not to take any action at the park.

The above statement is incorrect. RSMo 21.750.3, while unconstitutional, is the law of the land in Missouri. If they had a permit then their rifles and handguns could remain loaded and locked. The city ordinance and state statue is quite clear on this point. Until the state legislature rectifies the language in RSMo 21.750.3 compliance is required. This is in keeping with the forum rule regarding the obeying all laws and changing them via the ballot box or via the courts.
It seems to me that if any of those who complied with the request had a permit and knew the laws, which they appear to not know based on the above statement, they would have remained loaded and locked and those cops could not do a thing to change that.

The ordinance that comports with RSMo 21.750.3
“To carry openly you have to be able to carry concealed. Welcome to my world,” Jamison said of the Kansas City ordinance.
Not true now that Missouri is permit free CC. No, currently as the state law is written they do not have a case to make.
“I could make a case out of it for them,” Jamison said. “A lot of things are legal. Whether they’re a good idea or not is another thing.”
Cops are in the legal and illegal business and not the right or wrong business.
I have provided the required cites that confirm that the cops were very reasonable, and accommodating of the citizens rights to be armed-ish while exercising their 1A. An argument could be made that they were too right and wrong vs. legal and illegal.
Good on those cops.
