It is the dude that sent them who was closest to getting charged with a crime. But, he quit, gave up his life as a cop, and feels bad, so that is enough to not warrant criminal charges according to the GJ.
"The grand jurors gave serious and lengthy consideration as to whether to recommend criminal charges against the case agent in this matter," the report states. "Ultimately, we do not recommend criminal charges based upon the totality of the evidence. However, the case agent, by and through counsel, has voluntarily surrendered the agent's Peace Officer certification and thus ability to work making arrests and writing search warrants. The grand jurors unanimously agreed that this was ultimately more fitting of the circumstance and more appropriate than criminal charges and potential jail time."

Also, all the cops who participated in the assault really feel bad so they deserve some peace and quiet.
Rather than seeing unfeeling or uncaring robots, what has not been seen before by others and talked or written about is that these individuals are suffering as well. We have seen and heard genuine regret and sadness on the part of the law enforcement officers involved, and we think is it fair and appropriate to point out that they are human beings as well.

Philip Holloway, a criminal defense attorney and former Cobb County prosecutor, sees a contradiction between the grand jury's findings and its conclusion that no one was criminally negligent. "One might argue that the grand jury is speaking out of both sides of its mouth," Holloway told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "On the one hand, the presentment speaks in terms of criminal negligence by the task force, including severely deficient supervision. Yet on the other hand, they elected not to recommend any criminal charges." Holloway added that "if an ordinary citizen were to act with the reckless disregard described by this grand jury, there can be little doubt that criminal charges would be filed.

A CI...again. Using a dirt bag to catch a dirt bag. Who benefits? Cops do, not the citizenry and especially so in this case.

A criminal complaint would bolster a civil claim...the GJ (aka the prosecutor) ain't gunna have that.

I'm real sorry the cops feel bad about what they did. The taxpayers of Habersham County likely feel bad about the million dollars it cost the county to settle, probably as a result of the county refusing to pay the medical bills for the child and acting stupid and aggressive when this raid came to light. I'm feel bad that the cops didnt see the car seats in the van parked outside the door of the house before they threw the grenade in the house. I bet they do feel bad, their task force is disbanded and they can carry with them what they did and how they dodged prison because of the local good ole boy network that saved their sorry butts.
