I am on my way on the 14th and will apply for my conceal permit immediately. I would like to OC in the meantime. Open Carry in a car here in Ca. is very restrictive due to the school zones. Do Utah school zones also apply to open carry in your car?

you can OC or CC inside of your car with or without a CFP... school zones do not matter.

With a CFP, you can carry onto school grounds/inside schools.

Just make sure that when your OCing without a CFP that your gun is "utah unloaded" ...meaning the gun is 2 steps from firing. No round in chamber with a semi-auto is what most do... (racking the slide to chamber a round is 1 step, pulling the trigger is the second step)

To expand a little on the above post, you may carry a handgun however you please in your car.

If you have a permit from ANY state, you may carry however you please outside of your car as well.

If you do not have a permit, the "2 action rule" applies everywhere except your car.

Thanks Y'all. I appreciate your great info, I will now be confident that I am in accordance with the law.
In honor of John M. Browning I plan on putting my 1911 Govt. model on the dash so that it is the first of my guns
to enter the state.
