Last night I had to file a police report. The responding officer was Deputy Brantingham of the Silver Springs substation. After the report was filled out, I asked him how he felt about citizens open carrying handguns. I don’t remember his exact words, but he basically stated he didn’t much care either way, and that he took an oath to uphold the Constitution and that included the Second Amendment. He advised me to keep an eye out for “No Firearms” signs at businesses (which I already knew about and know they carry no weight of law), as I could catch flak from them for carrying in their establishment, and he didn’t want to see that happen.
Overall, he was very nice, very professional, and basically gave a “Thumbs Up” to the OC community.
EDIT: He also suggested that, due to the nature of my report, that I get my CCW so my prints will be on file.
