You have to sneak up on unicorns.
Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings again demonstrates his ignorance of the issues, blaming "open carry" (LGOC in this case) for something, anything, to do with the killing of five Dallas police officers. Instead of pointing to this and saying "I guess these guys had it right, bad things can happen In unexpected places."

Went into my neighborhood Kroger over the weekend. Standing in the produce section and I see an older guy slinking up on my strong side with a phone in his hands. As I'm grabbing items, the phone slowly comes up and shutter noise goes off.
Hope he's enjoying that shot of my elbow covering most of the gun...
The HEB here in Houston...
My Central Markets are posted 30.07. HEB was public about their prohibition. But a thin tshirt stretched tight is still concealment <wink>...
The HEB on Weslayan does have 30.07 - just not visible through dark tinted glass from outside.... Didn't make it back by Central Market.
Because the wife's happiness is more important than my trouble untucking. The only other place that sells some things we want is Whole Paycheck and they are hostile to all carry. I expect that after a little time, the signs at CM will come down once they realize that legally carried sidearms are not a problem for anyone.
And, hence, we have yet another illustration of why we are in such a mess as we are, specifically with regard to the Second Amendment, and in general with regard to the Constitution as, for some, the compromising of one's purported principles comes rather easily when the purchase of one's favorite sushi is clearly more important than defending one's Constitutional rights.
And, no, the signs will not come down anywhere until there is an economic incentive to remove them, and so long as sushi remains more important than God-given freedoms, it ain't gonna happen.
"The critical flaw in the system is the obscene notion of 'crime prevention'.
If you are not stopping an actual crime in progress, then any police act to 'prevent crime' is an improper excess of authority exercised against those who are not engaged in criminal acts.
It's a guaranteed death-spiral into totalitarianism. The only way to genuinely prevent all crime is to prevent all unsupervised activity.
It sounds like such a great idea -- who doesn't want to 'prevent crime'?
But in practice, it becomes crimes by the state against non-criminal individuals. A license to dominate, to improperly exercise improper 'authority'."
These days I carry open when it suits me and the list of where I've openly carried is long and essentially uneventful. I did get a couple of guys eyeballing my HK at Rusty Taco on Inwood Rd in Dallas. Couldn't decide if they were trying to figure out what I was carrying or if I was up to no good.
The guy working the register at Flying Fish (Preston Center) asked what I was carrying and we had a brief discussion about HK handguns.
As far as CM and compromising my virtue by shopping there, CM management is more likely to listen to customers than outsiders when it comes to these issues. I'm planning to take it up with them after a year or so of uneventful open carry history in the state.
Anyone else notice that Whataburger is NOT posted in some locations?
