Hi OCF Members,

I keep hearing this from various places and people, "if you live in a state that only allows OC", what states does this apply to? It seems to me like all states that allow OC, also allow CC. Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wisconsin was the last state I was aware of where OC was the only lawful means of carrying.

Then, they added CC with a permit a few years ago.

NC is another one that had OC all along, then came CC. Looks like this was all the past, now all states that have OC also have CC.

hey wethepeople, et al., remember the tarheel state needed another revenue stream to fatten the state's coffers and Paul needed a cause de celebre so he orchestrating the GRNC who single handedly managed to pass CC state laws:

◦GRNC was central to drafting and passing North Carolina’s concealed handgun law;
◦GRNC passed a clean concealed handgun reciprocity law which has captured 37 states (see below);
◦GRNC passed legislation enabling concealed handgun permit-holders to avoid redundant background checks when purchasing handguns, thereby circumventing sheriffs who restrict such permits;
Made emergency concealed handgun permits available to domestic violence victims;
◦GRNC recently passed omnibus gun bill HB 650...

thank goodness the TarHeel's OC aspect has been exemplary w/o Paul's assistance...

wethepeople, uh, er, early on the PaulV, president of GRNC had a falling out with a NRA staffer and the ensuing lawsuit caused the entities to end up with a bitter taste in their relations which completely soured their organizational relationship...http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/961483/replies?c=24

additionally, according to the world, as written by GRNC: quote: Since 1994, GRNC has been repeatedly forced to reveal NRA sellouts on gun issues to Second Amendment supporters. unquote http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=69579 and a copy of GRNC's actual 2003 alert: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/961483/replies?c=24

now remember, the world according to GRNC: they have passed CC laws for the NC citizens. http://www.grnc.org/home/about-grnc/grnc-accomplishments

additionally, GRNC has a extremely different slant when they put out their GRNC egocentric alerts which might be a smidgen biased and shock and awe tenor'd elicit the most emotionalism from their readership.

of late, GRNC, at least according to their website, Paul's blogs are not written by him but a staffer and not even being put out in his name and they now have a merchandising element to sell clothing, decals etc.

now wait just a moment...that sounds exactly like the NRA's organizational modus operandi ~ tell me it isn't so...aw so sweet our little grass roots entity has discovered $$$$ making schemes.

OTOH - numbers (new members) equal power equals more clout with the legislature.
Merchandising element (VCDL has a store too) is but a small part of income + gotta pay the bills, and provides secondary advertising.

i'll concede that point grape, but remember, GRNC's own statements off their website as quoted, states GRNC PASS'd the singularly aim'd CC firearm legislation not NC's elected representatives.

Are there any scientific study's that suggest open carry states have lower crime rates then states that do not allow open carry? Just wondering.

Best regards.

If the place or person who said this was referring to non-permit carry, Virginia would be one of many where it's illegal to accidentally cover up your pistol without permission from the bosses.

No formal, scientific studies of which I am aware; however, there is allegorical and example based evidence.
