New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a "state emergency" stemming from gun violence in the state.

The Tuesday announcement comes after a rise in violence across the state, but just hours after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that NYPD data shows murders and shootings in the city have decreased year-over-year.

"We went from COVID to the epidemic of gun violence and the fear and death that goes along with it," Mr Cuomo said during a press conference.

According to Mr Cuomo, 51 people were shot in New York over the Fourth of July weekend

The New York courts basically have ruled that the second amendment has no force and effect in their state. The NY courts pick and choose findings from Heller contorting those holdings to deny citizens of their rights and the feds say nothing about it. But Missouri passing a law denying feds jurisdiction in their state and the feds go berserk.

Several times you misspelled Mr. Cuomo. The correct term would be Dictator Cuomo. ;)

There are already a few counties attempting to become 2A sanctuaries. It only takes one county. The rest will hopefully follow.

Glad I don't live there anymore.

True. But if the SCOTUS won't find the state of Hawaii unconstitutional re: gun rights/2nd Amendment, there's little likelihood they''ll call-out other "liberal sanctuary states" even if they're only slightly less anti-RKBA than HI is. :-(
