...but some crybaby on Facebook was complaining that this forum was dead. So I guess I'll add some content.

Oh wait....I can't. Mostly because between the time of my last post, and now, open carry has become so normalized that no one's given me the slightest shit over it here. Not cops, not citizens.

This is a good thing. I hope that eventually, this forum will outlive it's usefulness, because open carry won't be such a weird thing.

We lost a lot with the loss of Peter Nap, Skidmark, and especially, Grapeshot, here in VA.
Dale was a moderator, don't know if for all States.
The loss of his leadership is sorely missed.

Too bad you don't have any new stories, Jahwarrior. Your stuff is/was some of the greatest evah on this forum!

Pennsylvania certainly has its gun rights challenges, however, and I've seen OC be a part of those.

I believe there is Facebook group named "Open Carry Pennsylvania" that I think is part of the "resistance" to such things.

Plus, as Pittsburgh has proven, PA's preemption law needs teeth.

While I agree that social media and the grim reaper has negatively affected this forum, there is still no better place for reasoned discourse about open carry, with cites, than this one.

We're mostly at that point already.

Once the premier gun rights community on the internet, OCDO is now reduced to a few angry people talking past one another.

Yet KB, here you are lambasting the forum...and as BB62, tks btw, just reflected, quote: “...there is still no better place for reasoned discourse about open carry, with cites, than this one.”

Alas KB, perhaps you should heed Churchill’s November 1942 observation during the Lord Mayor’s luncheon...

“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”

If you review the annals of this forum KB, you will discern there were quite a few members engaged in quite active discussions on minutiae points of law, community, state, federal; this or that firearm or caliber was better; merits of Mos/Lott/my friend/LE said this or that about what a citizen can carry/do in a SD incident; and even discussions about newspeek/social media covering shootings, yes just like the current discussion FL’s shooter’s conviction.

Most forum discussions were civil, while there were some members who insisted in engaging in flat out bullying techniques by berating others capabilities, ad nauseam. Tis the way of our society since the nation was founded...cost Hamilton his life. Fortunately these who bullied were called out for those type of tactics and as in face/face interaction, if a bully can’t win over someone they find another poor soul to wreak havoc on, that was done here.

Very similar, i’m sure to your engagements with your esteem colleagues in your state’s legislative body, except forum discussions were not face to face engagement ~ imagine KB conducting state business strictly by a forum message board and without benefit of seeing reaction to your message or even knowing another’s ‘real pedigree’ except what they tell you!

So KB, do you publicly lambast, newspeek/social media, your state’s legislative methods or your legislative cohorts or even those in your party’s leadership roles? Probably not!

Some technologists suggest FB/twitter/etc are dying modes of communication for the world’s society[ies] so perhaps shortly you can roam those venues bemoaning their premature demise also!

Tis just the end of the beginning...

Open carry in Wis. has always been legal. But it was highly discourage in the urban areas by the improper use of the disorderly statue.

I remember in 1977 when I walked into the local hardware store to by some wire fresh off the trap line.

I was carrying either a Colt woodsman or a Ruger single six. While paying the clerk asked isn't that illegal.

A simple statement of no it is not and I was on my way.

I receive far more positive comments now days then negatives .

Have we won no we do not have permit less CCW carry here yet.

But there are hardly any stories to write about. How many times does one have to write about I went to town walked around did my shopping and nothing happened.

This has happed in a large portion of the county.

That is why this forum is largely very slow.

We have come a long way, baby. The fight has changed even though there are pockets of nonconforming government agencies still defying the law, in effect accomplishing the purpose of this forum. But the fight is not over. Setting all the bickering aside this is the only place that an actual discussion of an issue can take place. Facebook will never reach that level.

It is odd though that we bicker over the bickering.

Isn’t it amazing for a site which is being mourned by some as about to pass to the great beyond...

Yet perks up from members who haven’t visited in years whenever there is a significant change in the national OC’g landscape to contribute to the discussion about the situation.

Thanks to those who are contributing/sharing their skillset & knowledge to the forum.
