openly in the Lexington-Louisville suburbanarea. Certainly don't want to start where there are a lot of people. I haven't felt threatened or seen the need to carry but feel like I have the rightand would like to, especially in the wake of the VT shootings.

My questions: I am 20 and a few months short of 21. I don't think there would be a problem legally, especially with this page I found online

http://www.lrc.state.ky.us/KRS/527-00/100.PDF

My dad purchased the handgun in a private transaction. Does the handgun need to be registered in one of our names in order for me to carry?

Thank you all in advance for your comments, this is my first post. Great website.

Handguns are not required to be registered in KY. I know that you can't buy a pistol until 21, but all of the laws are against distributing to minors, defined in that subsection as under 18 years of age. I would say that you're in the right according to KRS, but LEOs might not know this. As always, know the law and be ready and willing to share this knowledge.
