Here is my take on the whole WalMart deal.

First, I have continued to OC in my local Walmart's without issue. No personnel approached me, no cops were called, no one ran screaming out of the store. I understand Walmart's new stance, however I believe [1] it is regional. If you carry in a Texas Walmart in the vicinity of where the shooting took place or where the heavily armed idiot decided to carry his long gun while wearing body armor one day after the shooting, then there is a real chance of getting permanently trespassed, which is the right of the property owner to do, or charged with making terroristic threats and...shot. However, I believe it all depends on where the store is. In Iowa, as mentioned, I continue to carry, open and otherwise, in most stores I visit, including Walmart. No one bats an eye.

Second, as far as the general public is concerned, they only see the scary gun. Most sheep don't care about your intentions. "Get that big scary gun away from me!" The media only cares about the current agenda, which, as most of you know, is to demonize lawful gun owners and carriers. Considering somewhere between 500,000 and 1,000,000 lives are saved by lawful defensive use of firearms each year, [2] its pretty obvious that I am correct in the media's slant. Take the Sutherland Springs Church Shooting. That man wasn't stopped by a heavily armed swat team, rather by a passerby who heard the shots and used his lawfully owned AR-15 and his marksmen skills as an NRA instructor to shoot the suspect twice before he was able to leave the church. [3] Did any of you see Stephen Willeford (NRA Instructor) on any MSM being hailed as a hero? Me neither.

Finally, the only way to impact Walmart's bottom line is mass protests. The company gets government funding on the regular, [4] so even if 1/4 of a million lawful gun owns stop shopping their, it wont stop them. It needs to be the mass of the public. And we all know [5] that the general public are Twitter, Facebook, and MSM zombies. They don't even know what the real news is. So, while I would support an effort to make light of Walmart's new policy, the media will simply refuse to cover it because it doesn't go along with the agenda.

[3] church scenario:
Kelley was then confronted by and traded fire with Stephen Willeford, a local resident [lived close enough to to the church to hear the gunfire] and former NRA firearms instructor who was armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. Willeford had taken cover behind a truck across the street from the church and shot Kelley twice, once in the leg and in the upper left torso under his tactical gear. I have been in a lot of different areas and a lot of different Walmart stores. I watch the news. I have seen different policies enforced in different stores. Based on events in Texas and the genius who decided to OC in a store their after a recent shooting, one would be smart to consider that for a certain distance surrounding that incident people would be more sensitive to people carrying guns, even legally carried ones.

Depending on the source, the story ranges from someone who lives near the church to Superman flying in to save the day. So, I can post separate articles as well. There are some articles that have a very anti gun agenda that don't even mention Mr. Willeford, the NRA, the weapon he used to neutralize the shooter, or the man who drove the truck that Mr. Willeford flagged down and pursued the suspect in.

While I love proving points, maybe take the time to do it yourself next time. I've been on these forums for years and never have I ever been asked to cite a reference for my beliefs. If you have a problem with what I believe, I am sure there are other forums out there that will cater to your questioning of others beliefs. And some simple research and reading...thoroughly, would help you to show that my claims are not so "egregious"...as you claim them to be.

APPARENTLY ~ NO as the title of WND’S 2018 article you just cited: “Over 2 million defensive gun uses every year” and specifically mentions ~ “according to an unpublished study”. yet your post stated “Considering somewhere between 500,000 and 1,000,000 lives are saved by lawful defensive...”

Sorry, “We” as you used it is your poor attempt to show your camaraderie and raising your perceived level as a knowledgeable individual! To further spread fake news and BS only causes befuddlement and misinformation amongst citizens who might be legitimately advocating for firearms...

I avoid Walmart whenever possible.
I also open carry wherever it is legal to do so.
Sometime I cannot practically avoid Walmart since their business model of killing the competition has been largely successful.

That said, I have never been given a sideways glance when open carrying in Walmart, much less been asked to leave.

My family is making a concerted effort to shop elsewhere, but when that is not practical, I will continue to open carry.

As we all should do. But, like you said, sometimes its unavoidable. And when I do go to Walmart, unless I have my coat on, I will open carry.

Wasn't trying to "push any perception" just adding my thoughts to the conversation. I don't like Walmart's official policy, but from what I can tell, it is not enforced. Here is Colorado, it is not a crime to violate store policy, but if asked to leave, you must do so.
