If we should be so lucky to have the SC rule for the NYRPA, it may be a close decision. I say this that it is likely that Chief Justice Roberts, being a spineless worm, will side with the liberals on the court. It will then come down to whether Kavanaugh or Barrett will side with the Association or the liberals.

They have proven many times they are far more interested in maintaining government power.

Than increasing personal rights.

An interesting article. Unfortunately, the author may be right when he states:

Ultimately, I am conflicted about this grant. Part of me should be ebullient that the Court finally granted a real gun case. Yet, this strange rewriting of the QP has tempered my enthusiasm. I am jaded after thirteen years of being burned in Second Amendment cases. This grant may be the last time a nine-member Court decides a Second Amendment case. Any punt here will sweep Heller to what Justice Scalia called the "the dustbin of repudiated constitutional principles."

This case needs to followed closely as the SC problem with semantics worries me.

I do understand some of Blackmon's concerns, although some of it doesn't make sense. The court could have easily denied cert. I see it as no coincidence that when ACB replaced RBG that we get a cert grant. NY isn't making an issue out of open vs concealed carry, so I don't believe it makes sense for the court to take the case and then pull a Peruta.
I think this may have just been the court re-writing the question into a watered down form

We could get a shall issue permit ruling.

Could very well turn out to be like DC.

We can always hope for better but I am not holding my breath.
